The deadline set for banks to meet the GHS400million capital requirement is just three months away. So far 19 banks out of 30 universal banks have met this requirement. The Governor of the bank of Ghana however withheld the names of the banks. However, sources within the central bank hinted graphic business that it was because the remaining local banks were struggling to meet the minimum capital requirement because most of them had not yet submitted plans on how they could recapitalize.
